Crafts for Seniors

Crafting offers numerous benefits for the seniors we care for including improving their motor skills, strengthening their social connections, reducing stress, and helping them alleviate their anxiety. Crafting is also great for their brain health. According to a study from the Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, they found that seniors who participated in crafts like pottery and knitting showed a lower risk of developing mild cognitive impairment. Check out some craft ideas for you to try with our seniors.

Painting Rocks

As the weather gets warmer, have our seniors pick out a rock from outside to paint. They can turn their rocks into butterflies, lady bugs, etc. to help decorate their gardens for the Spring.

Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking is a great way for our seniors to relive old memories and it’s a great way for them to preserve their memories.

Painting Terracotta Pots

Gear up for the Spring season by painting terracotta pots to help bring more color into the garden and homes of our seniors. Check out this How to Video idea below via Sunset.

Create a Terrarium

No room for a big garden? Create a decorative garden with a glass container shape or size of your choice. Check out how to create a basic terrarium via The Spruce.

Egg Carton Wreaths

Recycle old egg cartons by creating an egg carton wreath to help our seniors get festive for the Spring season. Follow this instructional video below via Happy Life in Craft.
